The Piaget's Sports-Casual Polo Watch
Originating from the late 1970s, the Piaget Polo has always displayed the brand’s sportier and bolder side, a departure from the fan-favorite, ultra-elegant, and indeed ultra-thin Altiplano collection. Relaunched in 2016 following a complete redesign, the Polo is Piaget’s sports-casual watch that combines the ruggedness of stainless steel, white gold with sapphires or rose gold with a uniquely complex, geometric design.
The Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Watch Is Ultra-Thin
The revamped Polo collection debuted with three-hand and chronograph models, as well as a few special versions, but it is only now that we see Piaget engineer an ultra-thin perpetual calendar into the mix.
The 42 mm-wide case measures just 8.65 mm thick from its front crystal to its rear, courtesy of the Piaget Manufacture Caliber 1255P. Driving the hours, minutes, and a moonphase, it also displays the day, date, and month, and keeps track of leap years, as all perpetual calendar watches should.
For the record, a perpetual calendar is among the most complex mechanical complications that automatically adjust the calendar displays for the length of the current months, always accurately skipping to the 1st, correcting for 30-day months, and for February.
The perpetual calendar debut on the Piaget Polo
Crowned with a dark green emerald or blue obsidian dial with distinct horizontal lines that take the Polo’s presence to the max, the Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin is a desirable and impressively engineered extension of this sporty-chic collection.
