Bang & Olufsen has long been synonymous with sleek Scandinavian design and uncompromising audio quality. Now, with the launch of Bang & Olufsen Atelier, the Danish brand is taking customisation to an entirely new level, offering customers the chance to tailor their audio equipment with an unprecedented range of colours, materials, and finishes.
A Bespoke Approach to Sound and Style
Atelier is a three-tiered service that expands the brand’s design possibilities well beyond its signature muted aesthetics. The first level, Atelier Catalogue, introduces a curated selection of 20 aluminium colours, available in two finishes. Complementing these metal tones, customers can choose from ten wood species and ten colour stains for the iconic wooden lamellas that define many B&O speakers. For further personalisation, there are 35 fabric options for speaker covers, allowing every detail to align with individual tastes.
Bang & Olufsen’s flagship stores will feature a bespoke Atelier Catalogue cabinet, housing physical samples of these materials. Staff will be on hand to guide customers through the process, ensuring a seamless design experience.
To mark the launch of Atelier, Bang & Olufsen has introduced the Beosound 2 Gradient Collection, a limited-edition series featuring ten unique colour gradients, each restricted to just ten pairs of speakers. Unlike the standard Atelier Catalogue offerings, these gradients require a specialised finishing process carried out at B&O’s factory in Struer, Denmark.
The Ultimate in Personalisation: Atelier Bespoke
Atelier Bespoke provides virtually endless options for individuals searching for unparalleled luxury. Comparable to bespoke services from brands like Rolls-Royce or Aston Martin, this tier allows customers to request entirely custom finishes, including unique anodised gradients, rare materials, and even personalised textile integrations. Such intricate work requires extensive testing and hand-finishing, with lead times extending up to a year for truly unique commissions.
Bang & Olufsen has already demonstrated the power of this craftsmanship with extraordinary commissions, including the unique 50 pairs of Beolab 90 Alchemy Edition speakers, which are covered in gold and feature a shimmering bronze mesh. These bespoke creations highlight the intersection of audio innovation and luxury design, further cementing B&O’s status in the high-end market.
To make the process more interactive, Bang & Olufsen has launched a digital Composer tool, allowing customers to create and save their designs before consulting in-store experts. Additionally, an AR feature for iPhones will soon enable users to visualise Atelier products in their homes before making a final decision.
Kristian Teär, CEO of Bang & Olufsen, sums up the vision: “A customer who commissions a bespoke Bang & Olufsen product isn’t just buying speakers—they’re creating an extension of their personality and style. We aim to build a lasting relationship between the brand and the customer.”
With Bang & Olufsen Atelier, personalisation in luxury audio has never been more refined—or more expansive.
