Perfect Hotels in Venice for a Romantic Getaway

Often called the most beautiful city on Earth, Venice is the iconic capital of Italy’s Veneto region, situated across more than 100 islands in the Venice lagoon at the very northern tip of the Adriatic sea. A city on water, there are no roads, just canals—including the famous Grand Canal thoroughfare—while beautiful Gothic and Renaissance architecture, untouched for 600 years, line La Serenissima’s banks. When staying in Venice, visitors are spoilt for choice. The city is home to many luxury 5-star hotels directly on the canals as well as smaller boutique design apartments hidden down enchanting side streets. Check out our choice of stays and book your getaway now.

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, please check local regulations before booking.

Gritti Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel

“Venice is history, and at this hotel you can visit it from the moment you check in. From the decoration to the lamps – palatial glamour.”

A palace hotel with a living history. In the 15th-century house of Duke Andrea Gritti, you will still find oil paintings on the walls, heavy key tassels, antiques and Murano glass chandeliers, even in the smallest rooms. Writers, artists, film stars, and socialites like Peggy Guggenheim, namesake of a suite, have always loved this place. As do we. In the open-air Riva Lounge, you can enjoy warm Venetian nights while gondolas cruise the Grand Canal. For tours to the outer islands of the lagoon, we recommend taking one of the hotel's own Riva speedboats in style.

“Exclusivity and a dream experience. From visiting the Rialto market with a chef to being able to access the opera from a private box.”

The luxurious hotel on the Grand Canal is a successful contrast to the architecture, modern and individually furnished. It has become famous for exclusive experiences such as an evening at the opera in the Aman private box at La Fenice or a shopping trip to the Rialto market led by the chef himself. The rooms and suites are spread across the elegant 16th-century palazzo, with original frescoes by Tiepolo, gilded boiseries and magnificent chandeliers which already convinced Amal and George Clooney, who held their wedding here. We too would marry here, live here…you get the idea.

“Here the decoration is dazzling, a fresco on the ceiling, Murano lamps, and added to its location, it is worth having as a first choice.”

The Baglioni Hotel Luna is said to be the oldest hotel in Venice and with its location in a side street of the famous Piazza San Marco, perhaps also the most central. The former palace from the 12th century will captivate you with its unique flair, also thanks to hand-painted frescoes, ornate stucco work, antiques and Murano glass chandeliers. In the Salone Marco Polo you can have breakfast under an epic ceiling fresco, and the Canova will also delight you with its specialisation in Venetian classics – a journey back in time with a modern twist.

“Where classic is the rule, this hotel dares to offer a bit of modernity with luxury. Its extravagant décor has led film celebrities to choose this hotel, now it's your turn.”

Thanks to the unusual designs of French visionary Philippe Starck, the Pallazina Grassi is perhaps one of the most modern hotels in Venice. Carnival-inspired lamps meet Fornasetti prints and animal sculptures. From the Krug terrace, you can enjoy good drinks and a special view of the Grand Canal, and during the Venice Biennale, you're sure to run into one or two A-listers like Madonna, Angelina Jolie and James Franco. Palazzo Venart

“Here the winning over comes through the food. Its chef is recognised with two Michelin stars, and in addition to the gardens and its artisan renovation, makes it an ideal hotel.”

One of the newer luxury hotels in Venice is Palazzo Venart. Built in the 15th century on the Grand Canal, it was considered a meeting place for 18th-century aristocrats, whose parties were depicted in frescoes, and restored by craftsmen during the renovation. Precious antiques, gilded mirrors and Rubelli silk curtains reminded us of the golden age. The gardens are adorned with contemporary art by Venetian Anna Paola Cibin and the GLAM restaurant treated us to interpretations of regional classics prepared by chef Enrico Bartolini, whose Milanese restaurant boasts two MICHELIN stars. A real treat for the palate, not to be missed!

Hotel Ca' Bonfadini Historic Experience

“Centrally located, decorated to relax, with a good gastronomic offer, another good option to visit this Italian city.”

Just over 1 km from the historic Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square, in a 16th-century building, is the home of the opulently furnished Ca' Bonfadini. Gold and pastel tones, curved shapes and fine materials lay the foundation for the individually designed rooms. We enjoyed extended breakfasts here and were pampered in the in-house restaurant. We also find the large bathrooms and sitting areas with a view of the canal worth mentioning. Not unimportant if you want to relax your feet after a long day in Venice.

Hotel Giorgione

“In the centre, with a special place for breakfast, with a fountain, swimming pool, terrace and exquisite decoration. It is built to charm.”

Hotel Giorgione is a classic hotel in the Cannaregio district. It is centrally located near the main sights of Venice. But that's not why we love it. The opulent and regal décor of the 19th-century building includes rooms with antique furniture, traditional Venetian design influences and exquisite glass chandeliers from the neighbouring island of Murano, famous for its glass art. A cosy central courtyard with fountain is the setting for the included breakfast, while a pool and sun terrace invite you to relax after an exciting day in the city. You gotta love it and you certainly will!
