Dior Women Autumn-Winter 2024-2025 Collection

Dior Women Autumn-Winter 2024-2025 Collection

Designer Maria Grazia Chiuri leads Dior's autumn-winter 2024-2025 collection in an exploration of a pivotal moment in the Maison's history: the unveiling of its first ready-to-wear line in 1967. The enduring essence of Miss Dior, masterminded in the sixties by Philippe Guibourgé, the trusted confidant of Marc Bohan, resurfaces within the collection. While this practicality has long been present in the brand's designs, Chiuri draws inspiration from the swinging sixties that reverberates throughout the entire showcase for this season.

The presentation was set against the evocative backdrop of a stage created by Shakuntla Kulkarni. In 2016, the Indian artist crafted a compelling video titled “Juloos,” where she assumes the lead role, embodying a female warrior adorned with a helmet and other cane elements. At this year's collections show at the Jardin des Tuileries, the artist unveils a collection of her sculptures alongside various extracts from this evocative film. Translated onto canvas, these extracts seamlessly merge with the set elements, imbuing the entire presentation with a performative essence.

Central to Kulkarni's work is the rediscovery of the inherent strength that a woman's body can embody—a pivotal theme in the personal, political, and cultural journey of feminist liberation, resonating across diverse global contexts. This installation provocatively questions feminine subjectivity, not merely in terms of the body's social and political vulnerabilities, but more significantly, in its intrinsic power within the urban space and the prevailing social systems that shape our existence.

The Dior autumn-winter 2024-2025 collection is distinguished by its clean lines and muted hues; from the earthy tones of brown, black, and white to the vibrant spectrum of denim blue, reddish, and metallic accents. Complementing these ensembles, a diverse range of handbags in various sizes and accessories graced the show, adding an extra layer of allure to the impeccable presentation.

Chiuri injects a modern twist by incorporating bomber or denim jackets. Moreover, a penchant for masculine inspiration is evident, as seen in oversized suits with the letters ‘Miss Dior' in stark black. Few eras epitomized the allure of coordinated ensembles quite like the sixties, a sentiment echoed in each of Dior's meticulously crafted outfits. The collection showcases tunics paired with straight trousers, minis complemented by matching jackets, or skirts of varying lengths coordinated with corresponding coats. Dresses harken back to the androgynous aesthetics of the sixties, with shoulders serving as the focal point, cascading into straight-cut creations. Dior invites enthusiasts to fully immerse themselves in the captivating world of luxury and style.
