Marte Cázarez Duarte is co-founder of DESSERTO, a company making sustainable cactus-based material as replacement for animal and faux leather. She started Desserto in April 2019 in Guadalajara, Mexico with the aim of reducing the negative impact of industries on the environment.
In just four years, Desserto has received many international awards like Green Product Award, MCFW Sustainable Fashion Award, PETA Compassionate Business Award for its soft, high quality and sustainable cactus leather alternative.
It was also runner up at the LVMH Innovation Award in the sustainable materials category. Marte and Desserto are committed to creating new sustainable solutions and promoting ethical practices in fashion industry supply chains to help build a better world.
