design hotels
The Julius Prague is one of those rare hotels that works for everyone without feeling generic. The design crowd will appreciate Matteo Thun’s interiors. The food traveller will find a kitchen that earns its reputation. Anyone staying longer than a few nights will be grateful for the apartment-style rooms, which make a real difference once you stop performing “hotel guest” and start actually settling in.
At his boutique hotels in Florence owned with partner Betty Soldi, designer Matteo Perduca envelops his guests in an atmosphere of comfort, imagination and creativity, in suites combining offbeat elements both modern and historic. We spoke with Matteo about his design decisions and processes, his original style, and the little bit of London he’s brought into Florence.
