Glashütte Original’s new watch is beautiful, graceful, and technically advanced to please the contemporary feminine watch buyer and enthusiast.
A most welcome new trend in luxury watchmaking's highly traditional and slow-turning world is a new-found, more profound appreciation of the feminine watch customer and enthusiast. Brands have rightfully been criticized over the years for “simply making smaller versions of men’s watches and putting diamonds on them” in their efforts to create women’s versions of their best-selling watches. Glashütte Original, the Saxon watchmaker already known for its whimsical ladies’ watches, is among a handful to have put considerable effort into designing and engineering a new women’s watch from the ground up with its new Serenade Luna.
Glashütte Original Serenade Luna
The Glashütte Original Serenade Luna measures a highly versatile 32.5 mm wide and 8.9 mm thick, which is to say that it has enough volume for presence but not too much to quickly fade as the trend on large watches is turning. Likewise, at less than 10 mm thick, it sits gracefully on the wrist and works with leisurely, casual outfits as well as it does with the long, delicate sleeves of formal attire.
Better still, this timelessly proportioned case — in stainless steel or 18ct red gold, with or without diamonds — safeguards a bespoke and indeed completely new movement. The Glashütte Original Serenade Luna is powered by Calibre 35-14, a fully mechanical yet modern movement with a silicon balance spring, a high-performing 60-hour power reserve (quite a feat from such a small movement), and an accurate 4Hz operating frequency. All this is to say that the Saxon manufactory has not cut any corners. Instead, it pushed to offer one of the highest-performing movements in any women’s watch available today.
Available in various configurations, the Glashütte Original Serenade Luna comes on delicate leather straps or a stainless-steel bracelet and is fitted with a radiant blue or golden green dial or one in shimmering white mother-of-pearl. Beauty truly isn’t just skin deep this time.
