Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40: Welcome back to luxury

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40

The quintessential Swiss watchmaking house conquers Watches and Wonders 2022 with this sparkling 950 platinum and ice-colored Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40.

40 mm now seems to be the “golden standard” of modern watchmaking, and Rolex conquers it with this new version of the company's classic elegant sports watch, the Day-Date. This special timepiece has always exclusively used precious metal in its production, and the newest model is no exception there.  It now comes in this exclusive platinum version with an ice-blue dial.

The reflections of the ice-blue dial fade into the rehaut, making this a fascinating and precious timepiece

Platinum, with its particular sparkling white color, is a material that has always presented technical processing challenges that required the use of new technologies. In this case, Rolex had to create innovative new techniques to craft the distinctive fluted bezel with contrasting polished surfaces that shine like diamonds, surrounding the dial like a frame and punctuated by applied Roman numerals executed in the sparkling white metal.

The usual attention to hands and dial details finds its fullest expression in this exclusive version of the Day-Date

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 – a concentration of technology and character

Not only is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40 fascinating: it encapsulates a technological “heart,” the automatic calibre 3255 with a Chronergy escapement and a Parachrom balance spring, which ensure 70 hours of power reserve. The movement provides the timepiece with Superlative Chronometer precision and a maximum daily deviation of -2/+2 seconds, a standard that exceeds COSC certification.

The precision of the Rolex 3255 movement is tested twice: once in the COSC laboratories, and then once it has been cased, in the Rolex labs

This fascinating timepiece is complemented by the distinctive President bracelet, created in 1956 to adorn the original version of the Day-Date – in this case, executed in 950 platinum, with a hidden Crownclasp clasp. The rounded surfaces of its links connect perfectly with the case and give it that unique look that a precious and fascinating timepiece like this deserves.
