The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph, Finally With A Panda Dial
Just as the 1990s saw an immense acceleration of globalization, intercontinental business travel, and a consequent desire for escapism, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas had the perfect name, style, and execution right upon its debut.
Just three years later, in 1999, the Maison added the very first chronographs to the collection, solidifying the Overseas as the symbol of horological pleasure geared toward travel and adventure.
Since then, the Plan-les-Ouates-based manufacturer has shown all the love and care such an important family of watches deserves by evolving its design in 2004 and fully refreshing it in 2016.
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas' Refined Mechanical Heart
The latest generation of the Overseas Chronograph is powered by a highly refined mechanical heart, all designed and produced by Vacheron Constantin in-house — as befits such a historic and important name in the luxury watch industry.
The Calibre 5200 impresses upon first sight with a massive but intricate oscillating weight in solid 22ct gold, with a column wheel and an abundance of refined Swiss movement finishing decorations waiting to be discovered at every swing of the rotor.
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph matches a “panda” dial with a variety of strap options.
Recognisable by its notched six-sided Maltese Cross-shaped bezel and its integrated bracelet with geometrically shaped links, the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph now sports what the brand describes as a “two-tone” dial, lovingly called a “panda” dial by watch enthusiasts around the world. Black sub-dials surrounded by a silver base, it’s easy to see where this nickname is coming from.
The latest Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph is supplied with black calfskin and black rubber strap, as well as a stunning bracelet in steel to match the 42.5 mm-wide case.
With the easy-to-change straps and bracelets, the Overseas in steel is as versatile as ever, making it ideal for anyone searching for an excellent luxury sports watch that can accompany them anywhere and everywhere for years and decades to come.
