This statistic was put to the test at a recent challenge across Iceland.
The Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid Tours Across Iceland
In order for people to truly understand the power and range that the Flying Spur Hybrid has to offer, Bentley recently sent their latest hybrid model on a tour across Iceland. Covering 733 km, the Flying Spur needed no refuelling stops along the way thanks to its high performance and optimised engine. Running on second generation biofuel and geothermally-sourced electricity, this grand tourer was able to reduce its CO2 by 45% thanks to the electric motor instinctively jumping in to optimise range.
The Minister of Tourism for Iceland remarked, “It was great to see the car make the 733 km journey across the country on renewable electricity and green renewable fuel. Driving through the countryside with waterfalls on your left and volcanos to the right, you can see where the energy is gathered directly, from nature.”
Not content in resting on its great performance and excellent range, the Flying Spur Hybrid upholds the luxury and grandeur that we all expect from a Bentley. From the iconic front grill to the full leather interior, this car is designed to be an eco-alternative in sheep’s clothing.
When driving, you can choose from three different modes – The EV Drive, The Hybrid Mode and the Hold Mode. Choosing between these three will help to maximise the power of the car and make for a more enjoyable drive. All the data and statistics of the engine and energy flow are displayed on the information screen, so you can always be sure you are having the optimal driving experience. The Flying Spur Hybrid really is the jewel in Bentley’s Hybrid Range crown.
With the Flying Spur Hybrid being such a huge success, Bentley have decided to push the boundaries of sustainable luxury motoring and have recently unveiled their Beyond 100 campaign. This strategy looks to the future of motoring and promises to switch its entire model range to either plug-in hybrids or battery-powered vehicles by 2026, with the aim producing electric vehicles by 2030 exclusively.
No longer do we need to choose between an environmentally conscious lifestyle and a powerful, luxury car. The Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid has proven that both are achievable, and that compromise and carbon will soon be a thing of the past.
