The Forsterhof: Natural Beauty and Tranquillity in South Tyrol
The Forsterhof
Time has a way of running away from us. Caught in our busy schedules, dashing from one place to another, it’s important to take a moment to pause, unwind, and recharge and have life return to its beautiful simplicity. It’s time to breathe a sigh of relief, we’ve found the perfect place: the Forsterhof.
The Forsterhof is hidden away in the small commune of Algund within the stunning alpine region of South Tyrol. Verdant rolling mountains provide the backdrop to hazy mists over quiet mornings, to blue skies on picturesque afternoons, and romantic evening sunsets.
At the helm of this magical spot is the amiable mother-daughter duo Christine and Magdalena Erlacher. First opened in 1966 by Christine’s mother-in-law, the hotel was taken over in the early 2000s by Christine, who organised its complete reconstruction in 2019 (a sustainable project done by local companies). With ease, thoughtfulness, and warmth, Christine and Magdalena abide by a philosophy of a holiday ‘at your pace and according to your preferences’.
Certainly, days at The Forsterhof are defined solely by your personal wishes, with every space and service feeling like the comfort of your childhood home mixed with the luxury of a summer palace. The interiors are bright and modern with polished design touches, while precious family heirlooms and vintage furniture are dotted throughout, giving the place a sense of history as well as a distinctive personality and charm.
Its minimalist, contemporary architecture steals no attention from its surrounding environment, while fresh flowers, natural woods, and large glass windows inside diminish the Forsterhofs's boundary between indoors and outdoors.
To fully revel in this tranquil natural world, 25 rooms of the Forsterhof offer a range of specialities: Bathe under the starry night sky in your whirlpool on the terrace, share a moment of tranquillity in your private garden, de-stress in your personal sauna, or bundle up in your room’s cosy reading corner. This is no resort with a wellness ‘area’ – like a blanket enveloping you every minute of your stay, the wellness factor is woven into its fabric, its spas, pools, and secluded spaces at your fingertips for maximum peace and privacy.
And for those laid-back, leisurely mornings, a breakfast of regional, seasonal and homemade selections can be enjoyed until nearly noon and a range of delectable sweets are available throughout the day (you can even purchase treats from the Forsterhofs's own farm as a little souvenir or memento to bring home). Stop by the guest bar in the evening for a drink with a view, before setting out for a tour of local gourmet cuisine as part of the hotel’s ‘Dine Around’ network.
In the gentle atmosphere of the hotel, time seems to stand still: This is a place where connection and relaxation are nurtured and worries and stress melt away. So go ahead and make your escape, a holiday awaits – and we know you deserve it.
