Seestueck Prerow: Iconic Architecture on the Baltic Sea

View Gallery

Witnessing Seestück Prerow for the first time, it appears like an imposing character from a fable. The reed thatching seemingly grows beyond the roof, covering the gables and side walls, with a rusted steel façade that somehow complements it harmoniously.

Designed by Möhring Architects, the Seestück Prerow is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional Baltic Sea home, the reed roofing having become a jumping-off point for aesthetic experimentation. Yet for all its modern angles, the experience of this home is very much connected to nature. Days are spent with the terrace door constantly open, letting the sun and the view of the peaceful meadow — stretching all the way to the Darß Forest — flow inward. After sweating out the remnants of routine life in the sauna, the terrace is the place for a sweet nap in the shade, while the firepit beckons one to linger in the evenings under the stars.
